NIO has revealed its validation prototype not long after unveiling its ET5 EV. The premier took place in China during NIO Day 2021 last December.
Looking at the timeline, NIO has rapid momentum when the company has leaked shared photos of new ET5 validation prototypes. The brand is already making its name in China and will soon enter the Danish market by 2022.
The ET5 EV is also the second sedan from NIO after the ET7. Now, it is already opened for buyers, primarily in China.
The validation prototype process is rather important to verify the functions and performance of the vehicle. As a start, NIO has produced the first part of its Confirmation Build, which is the body line.
NIO ET5 was shaped into a silhouette based on NIO’s flagship model, ET7. Bodywork wise, the ET5 came in sleek with a bumper created in the image of NIO’s EP9. As for the cabin info, it offers PanoCinema, a panoramic digital cockpit with AR and VR technology.
The technological aesthetics doesn’t stop there when NIO also collaborates with an AR company – NREAL. The partnership has brought new NIO-exclusive AR glasses that project a 201-inch screen for drivers.
On top of that, 256-color ambient lighting and a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system are ready to blast with NIO’s ET5.
The carmaker has installed NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD), NIO Aquila Super Sensing and NIO Adam SuperComputing which prefers ET5 to manoeuvre anywhere safely on the road streets and battery swapping. The company also mentioned that this feature will be gradually rolled out and can be added with an RMB680 (RM447.58) monthly subscription.
Talking about the engine, NIO’s ET5 rides on a high-performance 4-piston fixed calliper that provides a braking distance of 33.9 metres (111 feet) from 100 km/h to a complete stop. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.3 seconds.
Tesla might be shaking right now as a new rivalry in China offers a range of over 1,000 km CLTC and a price of about RM172000 ($41,000) with the battery swap version.
